COMPETE SAFELY
by Mike Chandler, Paramedic
- The MidAtlantic Erg Sprints is staffed by three experienced paramedics who can handle all types of medical emergencies. The medics are on-site throughout the event. Feel free to approach us with any concerns.
- Remember--Warm-ups and stretching are an important part of your event each and every time.
- Be careful what and when you eat on race day. Dairy, heavy, fatty or acidic foods are hard to digest.
- HYDRATE--Drink plenty of fluids. Water or sports drinks. Sodas are not good hydration.
- Do not hesitate to notify a race official or one of the paramedics if you are prone to exercise induced asthma or any other condition.
- PLEASE do not compete if you are sick or injured. Do not risk further injury by competing. COACHES--Please encourage this--educate your rowers on the importance of letting injuries heal properly.
- QUESTIONS: Please ask a parent, coach or event medical staff...have a safe race.
